Islam

Islam is an Arabic word which means peace, obedience and submission to Allah (God). Submission in Islam is a positive act of committing one’s self to live in peace with God and bringing one’s likes and dislikes, one’s attitudes and behaviour into harmony with the Divine Will.
A Muslim is one who adopts Islam as a way of life, follows God’s commands and does not disobey God in word or action.
A person is regarded as a Muslim who believes that there is no deity or god worthy of worship except Allah (God) and that Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is Allah’s messenger.

A Muslim believes:

1) In the existence of only ONE true God who has no partner or associate (such as son or daughter) and neither does God is in need of any partner or associate.

2) That Angels are God’s creations who carry out His commands.

3) In previously revealed books (such as Torah, Bible) and that Qur’aan is the Final Word of God.

4) That God sent His messengers (i.e. Prophets: such as Abraham, Noah, David, Jacob, Moses, Jesus) for the guidance of mankind and that Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is the seal of all Prophets.

5) That this world will come to an end on the Day of Judgement and that there is an eternal life after death.

6) That our destiny is in the hands of Almighty Allah.
The relationship between man and God is that of Master and servant, Creator and created, Ruler and ruled.

The teachings of Islam instruct us in all things that occur during our entire life. Islam is, therefore, a complete way of life. Islamic life is based on two solid foundations: 1) belief and 2) action. Belief without action is of no use, nor is action without belief of any value. Both must go together and remain together.
The life of a true Muslim is always filled with godliness, piety, righteousness and truthfulness because he obeys Allah’s commands, accepts Allah’s guidance and seeks Allah’s pleasure in every action that he takes so that he becomes successful in this worldly life as well as in the life after death.
